RAK Ceramics surfaces for Coque Restaurant
In the heart of the Chamberí neighbourhood of Madrid, two Michelin Star Coque Restaurant, managed by the Sandoval brothers and designed by Mexican interior designer Jean Porsche, recently enlarged its culinary universe with the creation of a bakery. RAK Ceramics has taken on an important role in this evolution, supplying design surfaces that meld sophisticated aesthetics and cutting edge technical performance.
Located in the former famous disco Archy, Coque was transformed by Porsche into a sensory sanctuary where cuisine, architecture and family memories weave together. Jean Porsche’s design successfully captures the identity of the family as a luminous, creative and modernist concept, without losing connection with its roots.
"Coque is the home of light, of colour and of joy of living: a space of dreams and memories", affirms Porsche, who knew how to infuse every environment of the restaurant with visual and narrative energy.
The chocolate workshop is the highest expression of this vision. Looking directly out onto the street through wide windows, it allows passers-by to observe both the craftsmanship processes and the design of the furnishings, where the elegance of RAK Ceramics materials mixes with the sensory experience of the cuisine. It is on these marble-effect ceramic surfaces that the chocolate is worked, tempered and offered for tasting.
Centrepiece of the workspace, two large central islands clad with large format panels of Maximus Calacatta Green by RAK Ceramics. Inspired by the elegance of natural marble, these panels in stoneware with gloss finish present refined green veins that give the space a sophisticated and contemporary appearance. Panels of 144x305cm dimension and 14mm thickness were selected for this project. Aesthetics, but not only: the Maximus panels are heat-resistant, lightweight, durable, easy to clean and recyclable: the idea stage on which the master chocolatiers of Coque shape their creations every day.
An innovative and invisible element inside these counters is the CookingRAK, the invisible induction system that transforms worktops into multifunctional surfaces. At the base of this innovation is the synergy between high performance of the Maximus stoneware panels and an advanced induction system that uses the principles of magnetic fields: heat is generated only in contact with the pans, maintaining surfaces that are cool to the touch and guaranteeing superior safety compared with traditional cooking systems. Intuitive and smart, it can be managed through a remote control or dedicated app, allowing the combination of preparation, cooking and conviviality in a single fluid experience.
Framing the work area, the back walls of the bakery are clad with 6mm thick (120x260mm) Preziosi Ocean Blu panels, inspired by the elegance of marble. The dynamic veining recalls the fluid movements of sea waves while the colour - a deep and iridescent blue - embraces the space with an evocative and dramatic elegance, creative an immersive atmosphere with strong visual impact.
The Preziosi collection, created with cutting edge digital technology, interprets luxury in a contemporary key and is offered in various formats, ideal for impactful compositions and furnishing solutions of great character.
Coque Restaurant becomes a perfect example of how RAK Ceramics surfaces are not only decorative elements, but also essential elements in the definition of identity, efficiency and distinctive character of a ho.re.ca design of excellence.
