A historic residence in Siena, with continuous surfaces and ancient elements

In the heart of Siena's historic center, HD Surface defines the spaces of an apartment located on the third floor of a building that combines the original core of a medieval tower house, erected between the 11th and 13th centuries, with an adjacent residential structure built in the early 13th century. The apartment's owners, art collectors, collaborated with the designers of CMT Architetti to place valuable artworks within the home, creating a harmonious blend of art and architecture that serves as the focal point of the project.

The living area is characterized by two exposed brick walls, treated with a light natural lime wash that gives the masonry a soft and elegant appearance. The floor is made with HDsurface's PerfectCombination, a decorative system that combines the naturalness and spontaneity of concrete with the durability and waterproof qualities of resin. The product, in Beige, enhances the room's brightness and sophistication, complemented by the ceiling with original wooden beams, completing the cozy and refined atmosphere of the space. The living room is separated from the kitchen by white plasterboard walls that do not reach the ceiling and are topped with glass panels extending up to the wooden structure of the ceiling. This solution allows for the division of different functional areas without compromising the perception of a unified space. Moreover, all rooms in the house, except the entrance, offer views of some of Siena's most iconic landmarks, such as the Torre del Mangia, the Dome of the Church of Provenzano, and the palazzi on Via Cecco Angiolieri. These enchanting glimpses become true works of art within the apartment, framing the interiors with panoramas that seem to be part of the scene itself. Each window transforms into a dynamic painting, creating a continuous visual dialogue between the intimacy of the home and the historical and monumental beauty of Siena.
