Winners of 13th Casalgrande Padana Grand Prix announced

Casalgrande Padana has announced the winners of the 13th edition of its Grand Prix, an international architecture competition that has been promoting design culture since 1990, through the innovative use of porcelain tile. The winning projects were selected by an international jury of architects, critics, academics and journalists, chaired by the company’s President, Franco Manfredini. 

The winning projects in the “Large surfaces and façade cladding” category , were: Interior design of the Colosseo – Fori Imperiali Metro Station, Line C (Rome) by Andrea Grimaldi, Filippo Lambertucci, Department of Architecture and Design at La Sapienza University; redevelopment of residences at the former infantry college in Montpellier, Cyber Place – Innovation Hub in Cesson-Sévigné Rennes, student residences and accommodation in Asnières-sur-Seine and Milan 3.0 residential district in Milan, by Alfonso Femia Atelier(s); Busca school complex (Cuneo) by Daniele Rangone of Studio Settanta7. The winners of the “Retail, Office, Public and Service Buildings” category were: Facchinelli-Daboit-Saviane for the new secondary school in Puos d’Alpago (Belluno); Arcos B for the Tournesol Aldebert Bellier swimming pool in Taverny; SAUNA 360 for Ironmonger Row Bath Spa in London. Lastly, the winners of the “Residential Buildings” category were: Jacopo Mascheroni, JM Architecture for Villa Dellago in Torri del Benaco (Verona); Anna and Krzysztof Paszkowscy-Thurow of Anna Thurow Architecture and Interiors for House RS in Siadło Dolne and House KD in Szczecin, Poland; Martha Mezzèdimi of MEZZ Design Bureau for the Podere Necione swimming pool in Asciano (Siena). Special mentions were given to an array of other architectural projects in the various categories, at the awards ceremony held in the auditorium of Casalgrande Padana’s headquarters on 5 December.

Attracting the submission of over 1000 projects from all over the world, the Grand Prix again confirmed the important role it plays as a permanent observatory of contemporary architecture.
