Landa Arquitectos and Piuarch on show at SpazioFMG per l'Architettura

The double exhibition “Landa Arquitectos & Piuarch. Contemporary architecture between Mexico and Italywill be opened to the public by Thursday, September 15.

After “Norway. Architecture, Infrastructure, Landscape. With photographs by Ken Schluchtmann”, SpazioFMG per l’Architettura, the showroom gallery of Iris Ceramica and FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti will present the projects of the two architecture studios, describing the landscapes of their respective native cities, Monterrey and Milan, by witnessing their active role in the urban and architectural transformation and evolution of two growing metropolitan areas.

Eight works will be presented in all the stages of their development, starting from the initial concept, the construction yard up to the completed building. The technical projects, the construction images, photographs and design models are made up into a rich and complex mosaic, which relates the different scales of the project from the technological detail, the composition of maps and prospects and the relationship with its context.

Landa Arquitectos exhibits Pabellón M (2016), one of the most recent addition to the skyline of Monterrey, the Trebol Park complex (2016), the tower Dataflux (2000) in San Pedro Garza García and the high-rise of Reforma Latino (2016), the tower of 185 meters along the monumental Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City, which has already become a special landmark in the capital's landscape. Piuarch shows the Milanese projects of Porta Nuova Building (2013), overlooking Piazza Gae Aulenti, in the heart of the urban redevelopment of Porta Nuova, and Dolce&Gabbana Headquarters  (2012), in Viale Piave.

Other projects of the selection are:  the ongoing one for the Congress Centre of Riva del Garda, a multifunctional complex including a conference center and the theater of the Trento’s city, and CENTRO*Arezzo, the new shopping center of the Tuscan capital, characterized by the tower marking the entrance, a tribute to the profile of the historic city center.

Luca Molinari, scientific director and curator of SpazioFMG per l’Architettura commented on the new exposition (open until October 14, 2016):

“SpazioFMG per l’Architettura selects two high-quality designers, such as Landa Arquitectos and Piuarch, to compare two different but equally valid approaches of architecture, grown in the most dynamic urban realities of their countries of origin (Monterrey in Mexico and Milan in Italy). A fine thread connects the projects of the Mexican studio and the Italian one: competence, technical skills, aesthetic research and ability to participate actively in the construction of contemporary landscapes. Drawings, photographs and displayed models construct a narration telling the activities of design as an articulated and complex process, in which the building is just the final product”.
