The technical jury proclaimed five winning project among 1,390 certified by CasaClima Agency during 2016. In addition, the public chose an additional winner with an online voting campaign.

The CasaClima Awards, now at the fifteenth edition, ended on September 8 with an official awarding ceremony at the MUSEION - Museum of Contemporary Art, in Bolzano.

Maso Saxer by Vipiteno won the first prize: designed by Kerschbaumer Pichler & Partner, it is the result of the transformation of a typical rural structure into a modern CasaClima A, by means of a careful restoration that preserved architecture and materials authenticity.

The Boarding School Fürstenburg - designed by Werner Tscholl and inspired by the surrounding historic buildings - impressed the jury for its architectural concept, based on the collaboration between public and private companies. The result is a comfortable and functional residence that can make students feel like home.

The resort Gallo Senone, in Senigallia (Ancona), by BRAU Battistelli Roccheggiani Architetti, is also a winner: it is an old farmhouse retrieved and transformed into a comfortable and energy-efficient countryside resort, by using the certification ClimaHotel.

Then there is Casa IF, designed by Forer - Unterpertinger Architetti. Inserted inside the Brunico valley, it fits perfectly into the surrounding landscape with its strong concrete conveying to the entire building a high sense of solidity, while the larch wood inlays on the surface facilitate its integration into the context local.

Finally, the jury awarded the kindergarten Levaldigi a Savigliano (Cuneo) for being a structure that maintains its old style besides a new comfort and functionality given by the sustainability project of CasaClima School protocol. According to jurors, the ecological choice of materials, the high level of indoor comfort and the attention to high hygienic standards make the public aware of sustainability.

For the jury, Case di Luce stands out among the 25 pre-selected projects. Curated by PS Architectures – Piero Pedone; Pantaleo Pedone, Massimo Pedone and Annamaria Perruccio – it is a building born after the urban renovation project in an area with severe environmental issues, in Bisceglie. The supporting structure of the building – totally 42 units - is made of reinforced concrete with local tuff internal partitions and external partitions consisting of a 10 cm inner tuff and a layer of hemp and lime.
