An "Exotic Appeal" for the new Ceramiche Marca Corona collections
Exotic Appeal, the spirit of a sophisticated exoticism, shapes the offering of Ceramiche Marca Corona at the 42nd edition of Cersaie.
Evoking the idea of items drawn from far-distant lands, with an aura of strangeness and originality, the historic Sassuolo-based company imagines a Wunderkammer of surfaces of high visual and tactile intensity. This year, three-dimensional forms, graphic contrasts and colour highlights combine in a bold, particularly expressive decorative language.
Miniature Rima adds new three-dimensional elements to the Ceramiche Marca Corona range of small-size stoneware wall tiles. In the versatile 6x24 cm mini brick size, Miniature Rima has a 3D structure with two grooves, with a strong contrast between the shiny concave surface and the matt raised edges. Rima bases its effect on its rhythm, the echo of a recurrent sign that builds up highly dynamic patterns.
Arkigem extends the porcelain stoneware offering with a particularly expressive rereading of the world of stones. The collection reinterprets the identity of Ceppo di Sicilia, an elegant limestone breccia from southern Italy, with a pattern of apparently unrelated fragments, defined with varying clarity, distributed attractively across the surface. The pebbles embedded in the material create a graphic design of particular depth, with an effect that evokes the look of etched, brushed stone.
Arteseta, a white-body wall tile collection, applies research into the small-size tiles typical of traditional ceramics - such as glazed zellige tiles – to larger-scale slabs (50x120 cm), to offer a version of this look with more contemporary design and performance. This category’s distinctive glazing is intensified by the new Kristallina finish, a glossy, granular micro-texture with a soft, silky ‘feel’ that offers very easy care and cleaning.
Terrasale, on the other hand, combines geological inputs with very different origins. The compact power of volcanic basalt merges with the pale, radiant fragments of limestone deposited on seabeds. The background surface is characterised by small crystalline inclusions that enhance the visual richness of the graphic design, while its texture is delicately uneven and tactile. Great compositional scope is provided by the small square size (20x20 cm) in an impressively wide range of coloured pigments, together with two exquisite matching decors, Astro and Lacca.
The latest stage in Ceramiche Marca Corona’s creative design programme based on the aesthetics of minerals, Scultorea Delicata extends the range of solutions inspired by marbles and stones. It concentrates on pale, delicate varieties, together with exotic looks that fit naturally into architectural contexts of widely differing kinds. The most important innovation is the matt finishing technique: the large size (120x278 cm) in Velvet finish will make its debut in Bologna. At the same time, the Textured finish, available for the Travertine versions in the range, extends the collection’s scope to outdoor areas.
Last but not least, Arialuce, the first series of extruded terracotta lattices created in 2024 in partnership with Fornace S.Anselmo, introduces three new shades: Verde and Blu, both opaque, and glossy Nero glassa.
