Catifa (RE) 46: Arper renews the Catifa collection with a contemporary reinterpretation of materials

Catifa 46 is a timeless icon design by Lievore Altherr Molina for Arper. In 2025, the collection is renewed with a contemporary reinterpretation of materials: Catifa (RE) 46 is born. The new shell is made using 100% recycled plastic, a result of the combination of post-consumer and post-industrial material. Eight new shades have been selected for the color palette of the Catifa (RE) 46 shell.

This choice is inspired by sustainable architecture, where exposed materials with authentic, natural textures take center stage. In addition to the visual appeal, the touch is also stimulated by tactile sensations: the outer part of the shell features a distinctive texture, giving Catifa (RE) 46 an additional element of novelty. Comfort is also approached with sustainability in mind.

A new cushion has been introduced for the seat – also available for outdoor use – made from BREATHAIR®. This material – an elastomeric polyester – is already known for its characteristics: elastic, breathable, waterresistant, and fully recyclable. Never shaped before, it has been crafted to perfectly match the lines of Catifa (RE) 46, combining seat comfort with the exposed backrest. Catifa (RE) 46 represents another step forward in redefining beauty through sustainability.

The shell of Catifa (RE) 46 is available in 8 shades: ivory, anthracite, moorland green, midnight blue, rust, espresso, moon white, and black. The shell pairs with three different bases, allowing it to meet multiple needs and environments: four-legged wooden base, four-legged steel base, and sled base, the latter two suitable for outdoor use. In the configuration with steel legs or sled base, optional armrests can be added for extra comfort and support. Furthermore, to ensure greater versatility, Catifa (RE) 46 is also available as a stool in two different heights, both configurable with a sled base.
